• A valve inside the catheter hub impedes blood flow during initial venipuncture and needle withdrawal
• The introducer needle retracts into the needle housing and the valve closes to keep the access site clean
• The luer fitting of an IV line compresses and opens the valve allowing unrestricted flow of fluids
• Safety Features: Audible "click" of the needle guard when safety is activated signifies the needle is contained for handling and disposal
