Designed to protect against blood exposure, contamination and needlestick injury. ViaValve safety IV catheters provide blood control to help reduce the risk of blood exposure and contamination, while maintaining a clean access site.
- A valve inside the catheter hub impedes blood flow during initial venipuncture and needle withdrawal
- The introducer needle retracts into the needle housing and the valve closes to keep the access site clean
- The luer fitting of an IV line compresses and opens the valve allowing unrestricted flow of fluids
- Safety Features: Audible "click" of the needle guard when safety is activated signifies the needle is contained for handling and disposal
- Safety guard surrounds the needle to help prevent unintended contact with the needle
- Introducer and Needle Housing allows for one-handed or two-handed insertion, threading and disconnection
